A Heartfelt Evening on Camano Island: Community, Connection, and Lifesaving Support

What a spectacular evening we had on Saturday, July 26, for our Meet the Chief event on Camano Island! Hosted by our Board President Craig Peterson and his wife Cassandra at their beautiful home, the night was filled with sunshine, stunning views, great conversation, and a shared commitment to lifesaving care.

Guests enjoyed delicious food, warm company, and the chance to hear an incredible story of survival from one of Camano’s own—reminding us all why our mission matters.

The evening also featured an impressive High-Performance CPR demonstration by Camano Island Fire & Rescue (CIFR) firefighters and paramedics, showcasing the skill and precision that go into every second of an emergency response.

Attendees also had the chance to meet Fire Chief Jason Allen, who joined Camano Island Fire & Rescue in 1999 and was sworn in as Chief this past March. His longtime service with the department and genuine passion for the community set the tone for a powerful evening of partnership and purpose.

A special thank-you to Chief Allen and the entire CIFR team for partnering with us on this inspiring event. Their dedication to excellence in emergency response was evident in every aspect of the evening.

Thanks to the generosity of those who attended and gave online, we raised nearly $20,000—enough to purchase a high-fidelity training manikin that will help ensure CIFR’s firefighters and paramedics receive the highest standard of training.

We were also proud to announce the establishment of the Camano Island Fire & Rescue Fund at Medic One Foundation—an exciting step forward in our mission to expand support for lifesaving emergency medical care across Washington State.
