Record-Breaking Lifesavers Gala Raises $1.56 Million to Support Paramedic Training for our Region
The Medic One Foundation’s Lifesavers Gala delivered a historic night of generosity and celebration on Saturday, drawing more than 500 guests in support of one of the most advanced emergency medical systems in the world.
The event raised an unprecedented $1.56 million to help fund the training of 39 new Medic One Paramedics — the largest single cohort trained at one time in program history — representing fire departments across King, Snohomish, Jefferson, and San Juan Counties.
This record-breaking total moves the Foundation significantly closer to the $2.1 million needed to operate two simultaneous paramedic training classes — expanding capacity at a time when fire departments across the region are preparing for increased retirements among experienced paramedics. Sustaining this level of service requires strong public investment and philanthropic support working hand in hand. The Medic One Levy provides essential public funding for the operations of Medic One services, while the Medic One Foundation complements this support by funding the Medic One Paramedic Training Program at the University of Washington/Harborview — ensuring the continued pipeline of highly trained paramedics our region depends on. Together, this partnership helps maintain one of the most trusted emergency care systems in the world.
“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from our community,” said Kim Duncan Martin, Executive Director of the Medic One Foundation. “Every dollar raised is an investment in saving more lives, strengthening public safety, and ensuring that when a loved one needs help, a world-class paramedic will be there in minutes.”
The evening featured Emmy Award–winning journalist Michelle Millman as emcee and renowned benefit auctioneer Colin McArthur, along with a powerful story from a cardiac arrest survivor whose life was saved by local Medic One paramedics. Hundreds of firefighters, paramedics, fire chiefs, civic leaders, survivors, and supporters filled the room — united by a shared commitment to lifesaving excellence.
