Paramedic Students Practice Their Rapid Patient Assessment Skills at the Sick/Not Sick Drill
Yesterday, Paramedic Training Class 49 participated in the annual Sick/Not Sick Drill where they were tasked with determining the severity of a patient’s illness or injury within 60-seconds. This drill helps students learn how to quickly and confidently make decisions, developing rapid patient assessment skills.
At the end of the drill, each student saw approximately 48 patients—that’s 48 unique emergencies and treatment plans. This experience is invaluable, and will help build a firm foundation as the students continue their training, preparing for future drills that will test not only their ability to make decisions, but also to execute their plan.
