PARAMEDIC STUDENTS PRACTICE ASSESSING AND TREATING INFANTS AND CHILDREN

Paramedic students have been working very hard the past few weeks. On March 30th, students participated in the annual Pediatric Drill at the Redmond Fire Department. Students, alongside Redmond firefighters/EMTs, rotated through various scenarios where they practiced assessing, treating, and transporting infants and young children suffering from critical illnesses and injuries. The scenarios included allergic reactions, falls, and more. Senior paramedics and physicians staffed a mock-hospital where they assessed each students’ performance. While fairly rare, pediatric emergencies can be high stress situations. This training prepares paramedic students for real life emergencies, giving them the knowledge and tools they need when responding to any situation.
