Investing in Lifesaving Tools: 2025 EMS Equipment Grant Awards Announced
Every second counts in a medical emergency, and the right equipment can make all the difference. Through the support of generous donors, the Medic One Foundation is proud to help ensure local fire departments are equipped with the tools they need to deliver high-quality, life-saving care in communities throughout our region.
Each year, the Foundation allocates funds from our EMS Equipment Grant Program to help fire and EMS agencies purchase critical tools that strengthen their response capabilities and improve patient outcomes. This year, we awarded a total of $60,000 to nine departments across the Puget Sound. These grants represent more than just new equipment—they are strategic investments in community health, responder readiness, and patient survival.
Thanks to our supporters, the following agencies received funding in 2025:
- Bellevue Fire Department – Two ventilators to enhance airway management during cardiac arrest and respiratory emergencies.
- Camano Island Fire and Rescue –Pediatric Kits and reference guides to improve pediatric emergency care in remote island settings.
- East Pierce Fire and Rescue – A ventilation training manikin to expand hands-on airway management training for EMS providers.
- Eastside Fire and Rescue – A stokes basket and transport wheel to assist with patient extractions in difficult terrain.
- King County Fire District #20 – Fully stocked medical kit backpacks to support faster, more comprehensive first-in medical responses.
- Marysville Fire District – Two AED trainers for in-house CPR and AED skills training.
- Poulsbo Fire Department – An adult airway management trainer to increase clinical proficiency for new medics.
- San Juan County Fire District #4 – A portable ventilator that can be used in both field and transport situations.
- Snohomish County Fire District #5 –Mass Casualty Response Kits to improve preparedness for large-scale emergencies.
- Snohomish County Fire District #22 – Airway and AED training supplies for adults, children, and infants, allowing comprehensive community and staff training.
From remote islands to busy suburban districts, these tools support emergency responders as they serve their neighbors during their most vulnerable moments. Whether it’s pediatric kits for treating the smallest patients, simulation tools that sharpen life-saving skills, or advanced ventilators for respiratory emergencies, this equipment will have a lasting impact.
“At the end of the day, this grant means our responders have what they need when someone’s life is on the line,” said Craig Peterson, Medic One Foundation Board President. “We are honored to partner with these fire and EMS agencies and to support their mission to save lives.”
As calls for emergency care continue to rise, so does the need for high-quality tools and training. Contributions to the Medic One Foundation helps fill those gaps—and saves lives because of it.
