Community AED Grant to City of Roslyn
The Medic One Foundation is excited to share that Life Support, an organization committed to enhancing emergency preparedness and response across the I-90 corridor and beyond, has been awarded a Community AED Grant to equip the City of Roslyn with three LIFEPAK Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). These AEDs will be installed at Roslyn City Hall, the Roslyn City Library, and Public Works, making them accessible 24/7 in case of a cardiac emergency.
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death among adults over the age of 40. Immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and early defibrillation with an AED can more than double a victim’s chance of survival. However, for every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation, the chances of survival decrease by 7–10%. In rural areas, the average response time for emergency medical services (EMS) can be significantly longer than in urban settings, making immediate access to AEDs even more critical.
Roslyn has never had AEDs readily available in its public buildings. “Supporting our rural communities is essential, as emergency response resources can be limited in these areas,” said Kim Duncan Martin, Executive Director of the Medic One Foundation. “With this grant, we are addressing a critical need for life-saving equipment, ensuring that Roslyn’s residents and visitors have a higher chance of survival during cardiac emergencies.”
This partnership underscores our commitment to expanding emergency response resources in underserved communities. We look forward to seeing the impact of these new AEDs and extend our gratitude to Life Support and the Roslyn Downtown Association for their dedication to keeping their community safe.
